Superior Boiler Receives Kansas Department of Commerce Business Appreciation Certificate

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (April 22, 2022) –
Superior Boiler has been recognized by the Kansas Department of Commerce with a Business Appreciation certificate for the Department’s South Central region. Superior received the certificate in the manufacturing/distribution category at the To the Stars: Celebrating Kansas Businesses Appreciation Luncheon, held Tuesday, April 19 at Butler Community College in Andover, Kansas. The event was one of seven regional business appreciation events the Department of Commerce is hosting statewide this spring.

Kansas Lieutenant Governor & Secretary of Commerce David Toland presented the certificate to Doug Wright, Superior’s president and CEO. Hutchinson-based Superior was among 29 businesses in the 14-county region acknowledged for economic impact in the state. Superior was recognized for its investment in “Plant 3,” its third Hutchinson manufacturing facility, and the relocation of its watertube boiler division from Richmond, Virginia, to Hutchinson in 2021. The 75,000-sq.-ft. Plant 3 was renovated to house the watertube division.

“Superior is pleased and honored to have been selected as the recipient of the state’s manufacturing/distribution Business Appreciation award,” Wright said. “We’re grateful for the work of the Kansas Department of Commerce and for the support the state provides to enable economic development projects such as Superior’s expansion in 2021.”
